Cardinal Egan received his Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from Saint Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein , Illinois . He finished his seminary studies at the Pontifical North American College in Vatican City where he was ordained on December 15, 1957 . He received a licentiate in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1958. After Ordination he returned to the United States where he served briefly as a c urate at the Holy Name Cathedral Parish and later as assistant chancellor of the Archdiocese of Chicago and secretary to His Eminence, Albert Cardinal Meyer.

In 1960, Cardinal Egan returned to Rome where he served as vice-rector and repetitor of Moral Theology and Canon Law at the Pontifical North American College. In 1964, he earned a doctorate in Canon Law and returned to Chicago to serve as secretary to His Eminence John Cardinal Cody and later as co-chancellor of the Archdiocese. During this time, he was secretary of the Archdiocesan Commissions on Ecumenism and Human Relations, a member of several interfaith and ecumenical boards and commissions of social concerns; participated in ecumenical undertakings, such as the Anglican-Roman Catholic Dialogue of USCC and Protestant Episcopal Church of American, the North American Academy of Ecumenists and the Chicago Ecumenical Dialogue.

In 1971 Cardinal Egan returned to Rome as a judge of the Tribunal of the Sacred Roman Rota. While in Rome , he was a professor of Canon Law, a professor of Civil and Criminal Procedure, a c ommissioner of the Congregation for Sacraments and Divine Worship, a c onsultor of the Congregation for Clergy. In 1982, he was one of six canonists who reviewed the new Code of Canon Law with his Holiness, Pope John Paul II, before its promulgation in 1983

Cardinal Egan was consecrated a bishop on May 22, 1985to serve as Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of New York where he served as Vicar for Education of the Archdiocese of New York. On November 8, 1988 , he was appointed the Third bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport.

The Cardinal served the Church in Bridgeport for twelve years where he oversaw the regionalization of the diocesan elementary schools; the establishment of an active Hispanic and Haitian Apostolate, founded St. John Fisher Seminary Residence, initiated the Inner-City Foundation and many other initiatives. In 1989 he was named a Conventual Chaplain ad honorem of the Order of Malta . After his appointment as the Archbishop of New York, he was elected the Principal Chaplain of the American Association. Following his elevation to the College of Cardinals, he received the honor of Bailiff Grand Cross of Honor and Devotion from the Order.

Cardianl Egan was appointed the Archbishop of New York on May 11, 2000 . On January 21, 2001 , he was elevated to the College of Cardinals and assigned as his titular church the Basilica of Saints John and Paul.

James Cassidy

Monsignor James P. Cassidy, Ph.D.

A native of New York , Monsignor Cassidy received his B.A Degree from St. Joseph ' Seminary and College in 1950. He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of New York in 1951. He received a M.S., Degree from Fordham University in 1958 and in 1963, and a Ph.D. from Fordham in Educational Psychology and Counseling. He did Post-Doctoral Training in Clinical Psychology in 1964 at Fordham University and an Internship in Clinical Psychology at St. Vincent's University Hospital in 1965.

Monsignor Cassidy has served a parish priest, marriage counselor, senior clinical psychologist, Director, Family Consultation Service, and Associate Professor at St., John's University, Director, and Pastoral Counseling Program at St. John's University . From 1972 to 1989; he was Director of Department of Health and Hospitals of the Archdiocese of New York. From 1987 until 1992, he served as Chancellor and Chief Administrative Officer of the New York Medical College; from 1992 until 1995, he served as a full-time consultant at the Pontifical Council for Healthcare at the Vatican; from 1995 until 2000 he served as the Administrator of Holy Spirit Church in Cortlandt Manor, New York and from 2000 to 2003 he served as a staff psychologist and Director of Counseling at the Pontifical North American College in Vatican City.

Monsignor Cassidy became a Conventual Chaplain ad honorem of the Order of Malta in 1987. He was elected Assistant Principal Chaplain of the American Association in January, 2004

Kevin Wallin

Monsignor Kevin W. Wallin

Monsignor Wallin, a priest of the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut, was ordained to the priesthood in 1984 by Bishop Walter W. Curtis, S.T.D. His first assignment was as Parochial Vicar at St. Augustine 's Cathedral in Bridgeport . In 1987, Bishop Curtis appointed him as Secretary to the Bishop. In 1988, Bishop Edward M. Egan, J.C.D reappointed him as Secretary to the Bishop after assuming the Office of Bishop of Bridgeport. In 1995, Bishop Egan named him Diocesan Director of the Ministry for Liturgy, and in February, 1996, as Executive Director of the Inner-City Foundation for Charity and Education. In June, 1996, Monsignor Wallin became pastor of Saint Peter Parish in Danbury Connecticut . In April, 2002, The Most Reverend William E. Lori, S.T.D. the Fourth Bishop of Bridgeport, appointed Monsignor Wallin pastor of the Cathedral Parish of Saint Augustine.

Monsignor Wallin has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut since 1993; he was a member of the Pope John Paul II Center for Health Care in Danbury; a member from April 1997 to April 2002 of the Cultural Commission of the City of Danbury; since 1992 he has served a State Chaplain to the Connecticut State Council of Columbiettes; from 1998 to 2002, he served as the State Chaplain to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; since 1996, he has served as the Chaplain of the Order of Malta, Connecticut and a Magistral Chaplain of the Order; since 2003 he has served on the Board of Directors of the Bridgeport Catholic Elementary School System, and as its president from January 2003 to June 2004. In the spring of 2003, he was elected to a three year term as Territorial Vicar for his vacariate.
